Overview

FlyMe is an app thats works to be the ultimate travel companion through the new capabilities of AI, creating itineraries that will reduce the stress of traveling, no matter who or how many, creating everlasting memories without breaking the bank.

72% of mobile bookings happen within 48 hours compared to the 64% from desktop. Travel-related searches with keyword: ‘tonight’ and ‘today’ have increased 512% over the past five years.

While airfare prices have dwindled 3.6% from pre-pandemic prices, hotel prices have trend upwards 19.7% since then. Prices are competitive and can spike or decline depending.

Methods for gathering an itinerary vary, but the common trend appears having users scrolling through forums, or switching back and forth on AirBnb and Google Maps and TripAdvisor.

An overworked employee and group of travel companions that are also busy, need a crafty intermediary that can effectively do the planning for they can be relieved from coordinating with each other and get their much needed rest because if they don’t could lead to muscle aches and fatigue.

Problem Statement

It is difficult for busy people to plan a trip with family and friends, and they need a the means to be able to plan and settle for a vacation that is to all their liking.

Scenario

Sophie, who works at a hospital, is planning a vacation to Greece with her group of friends who have busy schedules. To make the planning process easier, they decide to use FlyMe's AI to help create an itinerary. With the help of FlyMe's AI, they are able to merge their individual plans and preferences into one cohesive plan. Additionally, they are able to book their flights and Airbnb accommodations with FlyMe's best deals, ensuring that they get the most out of their vacation while staying within budget.

Risks/Emotions

Sophie, a passionate professional, was drowning in work. She needed a break with friends, but planning was overwhelming. FlyMe offered a carefree Greek getaway, allowing them to recharge without planning stress.

Storyboard

Sophie, a nurse, works overtime and lacks time for friends or her dream trip.

One fateful day, her friend sends her a link to an app, FlyMe.

Sophie checks it out, with skepticism 



After signing up, the app asks her destination: Greece.

FlyMe's AI recommends the top three personalized itineraries.

Sophie finalizes her plans with friends using "Merge."

Their plans have merged into a cohesive itinerary for their dream trip to Greece.

The girls have done their part; now the fun begins.

The three Amigas are now living their dream.

Navigation includes means to book flights, hotels/AirBnb, Itineraries, Car Rentals, and Budgeting. Also portals to pages like Traveler's Center, where users can see other travelers favorite destination for more niche tastes and tips for the best experiences from users. Things to Do, that covers essential tourist attractions, ratings. Through prototype users will book a flight to Mykonos Greece, and will filter options to find a quicker and cheapest option available

Users can now starting creating what they plan take with them on their trip from their wardrobe, or even create new ideas for what to bring in their trip. The layout depicts a suitcase with a scale laid out that would remind tester how much weight they added to their luggage. 

Itinerary

This middle selection, marked with a "+", allows users to choose between a manual and AI itinerary. It connects them to Winona, the AI flight attendant, who will ask for their destination. In this prototype, the user is headed to Mykonos, Greece, and Winona will present three itinerary options, with the first two featuring different routines.

Messages

This is where travelers can interact with their user friends and create group chats that come from the app where all their trip coordinating can take place, making it much easier task.

Users can customize their settings and access more information through the help desk, where Winona can assist them in maximizing the functionality of the FlyMe app. Additionally, users can track their spending in relation to their set budget for the trip. All saved or booked content will be conveniently displayed here.

User Testing 

Objectives

  1. Can users create an itinerary?

  2. Will users grasp the role of AI in itinerary?

  3. Are users able to save luggage and itinerary?

Tasks

  1. Participant will sign in via Apple ID or skip.

  2. Participant will first create an itinerary and catered to a trip in Mykonos, Greece, tehy will save the first itinerary option. 

  3. Next participant  will book a flight for Mykonos and filter their search to the best deal they can find. 

  4. Third, participant will start to create luggage for their upcoming Mykonos trip. They will add a shirt and choose according to gender.  

  5. Last, participant will navigate to account page, and look at their saved items: flights, itineraries, and luggage items.

Conclusion

Despite all the hurdle of the early iterations of FlyMe, the final prototype offers new solutions to user pains, with all that is has to offer, and what had to be removed for clear understanding from user and goals to prevent user error. From here on out future investment in the app can be spent on defining each feature now, now with a solid foundation for the navigation and visual style and the proper user controls that will make the experience better.

Future Iterations

Smarter Winona, Smarter Way to Travel

AI planning gets a budget-friendly upgrade! You can now tell Winona how much you want to spend and save on your travels. Plus, you can snap pictures  and Winona will use them to give you info on those places. And to fit your travel style, there are even different vacation modes!

Develop budgeting tools within FlyMe, inspired by Expedia's price tracking feature, to help users stay within budget while booking flights.
